PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

The Marketing and Media Relations departments handles a variety of communication and promotional activities for temporary and permanent exhibitions, Omni films, Planetarium shows and special events at the Museum of Science in order to drive awareness and attendance.


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Intern assists with day-to-day activities in the department; however, the intern's primary project will be to help execute activities around opening on the Omni film National parks Adventure and the new exhibit the Yawkey Gallery on the Charles River. The Intern is responsible for fielding requests for Museum information, assisting with event logistics, pitching niche media as well as promotions, advertising, and email marketing related to the exhibit. The Intern will work with internal and external partners to help promote the exhibit launch.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with events 
  • Update press contacts 
  • Assist with requests for museum information and photos
  • Assist with email marketing and social media tracking
  • Assist with radio promotions
  • Assist in execution of annual advertising plan.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Undergraduate or graduate student 
  • Good organizational, speaking, and presentation skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to take directions and work independently


SPECIAL SKILLS:

  • Marketing, Public Relations, or Communications major preferred
  • Previous work experience, Marketing or Public Relations internships preferred


LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP:

Fall 2018


WORK SCHEDULE:

12-18 hours a week-M-F


STARTING SALARY:

$11.00 & $11.25 hourly
